Two steps back…

Apparently, here in Hamilton, one needs to make an appointment to see an optometrist. Both of the ones near the opticians (they’re apparently not allowed to be in the same space here for some bizzare reason) are booked solid for a full month.

*baffled*

Uru Revisited.

Ok, so i finally get Lee to agree to play WoW with me.

He gets his own account, rolls himself a Tauren druid. I pull out my shaman. we spend a couple of days happily rolling through Mulgore (the lowbie area for that race). He seems to be enjoying it, he’s responding in all the right ways, including yelling at his toon.

“But you realise I’ll expect you to play Uru with me right?” Um, ok, deal.

So tonight when the WoW server crashes, I sign up for Uru Online. Get the DL, get installed.

And I run smack into the big brick wall of why I ABSOLUTELY HATE FUCKING URU ONLINE.

Grrrrrr

Now crap like this is why I dont trust “christian” charities.

Salvation Army Evicts almost 200 Low-Income Women.

The Salvation Army, the second-largest charity in America, is quietly evicting nearly 200 women, many of them elderly and low-income, from a pair of 18-story Manhattan buildings.

Tenant leaders at the two single-room occupancy hotels, the Ten Eyck-Troughton Residence on E. 39th St. and the Parkside Evangeline at Gramercy Park, say officials from the charity have been harassing them for months and have already frightened many long-term residents into moving out.

These are, by the way, buildings which were “specifically donated to the SA decades ago” for the sole purpose of housing low income women.

The funds are to go twards building their “Kroc Centers”… the community centers Ray Kroc the McDonalds bazillionaire gave them 1.5 billion dollars to build a few years ago.

Because yanno, it makes so much more sense to have a community center than oh, say, someplace to live. Of course it doesnt hurt at all that each of these properties will probably sell in the $100 million range. You can probably save a lot of souls with that. Or at least to help pay for the lobby for legalised religous discrimination with public funds.

Sick-day diet…

Drinking lots of fluids… Check. Even if it is cola and coffee. (I forgot to ask for tea this time.)

Vitamin C… check. It doesnt matter that it’s in the form of the bean sprouts in my veggie chow mein right?

Chicken soup… check. No those are not wontons you see in that bowl.

Ginger to soothe the stomach, open up the blood vessles… so what if it’s coating some looed chicken?

See? Everything I ever needed to treat a cold I can get from the Chinese Delivery.

Playing warcraft and watching Doctor Who count as resting right? Im not moving much…

Ick.

Irony is coming down sick with the chest-yuck two hours after having blood drawn for my immigration physical, and two days after the actual get-poked-by-MD part.

Head hurts and brain full of fog. I have new books and the WoW expac, but I dunno if I can concentrate on either.

The Joys Of Physicals

Went today and finally had my physical done for CIC. Well, most of it anyway. Got the xray (yay for chest shot number 8 billion) but the Vampires closed for the day about twenty minutes before we got there. So we’ll have to go back monday to prove that I dont have HIV or that my tattooist didnt give me Hep C fifteen years ago.

We also found out that my blood pressure has indeedy not dropped a single bit from my relaxing stay in Canadia. MD actually raised her eyebrows at me when I repeatedly assured her that no, I was not having any overt symptoms. Sorry, my body is just accustomed to this… Ive apparently been hypertense since I was a kid (or so I’m told). Anyway, today’s grand number started at 80/100, dropping to 50/100 when she left me alone for a bit to chill out once she realised that my warnings about my usual “white-coat syndrome” issues are pretty real.

Didnt like her too much, but she was quite efficent, although I think her initial impression of me was that I was a flake who blew off her meds. Once I explained the situation, she understood immediately… even to how “no one wanted to be responsible” (her words) for cutting me a scrip for them when I was at the ER a few months ago. So she was nice enough to furnish me with multiple sample packs of my pretty heavy-duty meds (I’d produced the old bottle). So I now have about five months of my drugs, including two months of the lower of the two available doses so I dont shock my system again going on or off. And as a bonus she confirmed that as a spousal case, I’m eligible for OHIP as soon as CIC clears my medical.

Boogied over to the PO and sent the package in via Registered Mail once I tucked the reciept for the meddogs into the envelope. So now we just wait more to see if the Grand High Mucky-Mucks of Canadia will allow my husband to keep me.
